Description

This walking tour of Hong Kong involves lite hiking and getting around by public transportation as you visit the attractions. Ride the tramway to the Peak and take a bus to an ancient village at Pok Fu Lam to seek out the origins of Hong Kong (translated as Fragrant Harbor). The route covers all must-do must-see lists and off-the-beaten-path attractions.  Guests will be taken to taste the signature food of the area and informed of the hidden stories there.

Meet your guide and small group (maximum 15 participants) at the departure point in Central Hong Kong, and take a ride on the Peak Tram (ticket included). Ride up to Lugard Road at the Peak where a scenic promenade showcases the view from 1,312 feet (400 meters) above Hong Kong. See bountiful flora and historical monuments en route while you learn about the original coal-fired tramway before it became electrically powered in the 1920s.

Afterward, take a bus to Pok Fu Lam for snacks or homemade dim sum. In the old village, hear tales about how Hong Kong got its name (literally, Fragrant Harbour) and perhaps search for the origin of the 'fragrant stream,' which can still be found here despite being threatened by urban development. During your heritage walk through the atmospheric village, learn about Hong Kong's primary university, dairy farm, and other 'firsts' long forgotten.

At the end of your 5-hour tour, your guide accompanies you by bus back to Admiralty Station.
